Abstract

In this paper, soil samples were reinforced with jute geotextile and Rice Husk Ash (RHA), adhering to Indian Standard guidelines. The study found that adding jute to soil decreased permeability and enhanced cohesion, although it reduced the angle of internal friction, suggesting lower displacement risks. Conversely, RHA's inclusion in Black Cotton Soil reduced the Maximum Dry Density due to lighter RHA particles replacing heavier soil particles, while increasing optimal moisture content and significantly improving the California Bearing Ratio (CBR), indicative of stronger soil compaction and strength. These findings highlight jute and RHA's effectiveness as sustainable materials for enhancing soil stability and strength in geotechnical engineering.
