Abstract

Background: India's urban population is growing rapidly, accounting for 62% of GDP and a projected 75% growth by 2031. This expansion may be ascribed to the growing concentration of urban populations in large cities as well as the increase in the number of people who own motor vehicles. The demand for vital services such as transportation, water, sewage treatment, and low-income housing will increase by a factor of five to seven over the period of time when urban population and income are growing.

Objective: Understanding the parameters affecting the sustainable public transportation in Tier-2 cities in India and analysing the factors affecting the public transportation and finding ways to resolve it and suggesting new techniques.

Methodology: Using the quantitative approach, a questionnaire survey will be floated using google forms to industry experts and the daily commutes of public transportation to know the parameters affecting the usage. For statistical and factor analysis of the collected data is IBM SPSS and for structural equation modelling IBM AMOS has been used.

Findings: The study identifies various problems which are divided into various factors such as Physical Factor, Socio-Economic Factors, Time Bound Factors etc. The study also possesses potential solutions for the identified problems.
